C O L O U R P A L E T T E / Basalt Columns in Sicily
Visiting the 'Gole dell'Alcantara' geological park in Sicily, was an exciting and unbelievable adventure; getting amazed by nature's immensity and perfection. Is one of the most interesting and spectacular places to visit because of its contrasts of geological formations of basalt columns, waterfalls and land consisting of citrus and olive groves, pastures and forests. You get consumed by nature and its surroundings.

A m s t e r d a m in Colours
The Traveling Colour Book this time is Amsterdam. The city was pouring colours everywhere. I saw COLOUR spreading in the city; on the surprising canals, in the contrasting architecture, inside inspiring cafes and concept stores, in the rubbish and in the way they dress. Dutch people love colour and are keen in creating new colour combinations.

Nasrin Ijaz is British Fashion Designer located in East London. The fact of being born and raised in London into a Muslim family, has given Nasrin a different perspective about life.
Cultural capital has being acquired by this designer; learning and adapting to different cultures has influenced her life and therefore, her designs.
Having a social and political position may be reflected
in her prints, which are colourful, strong and contrasting.
Nasrin is a passionate designer and mum, always
giving 100% of her, which makes her outstand from the crowd.
Her passion for
life, especially for Fashion, has driven this designer to study what she most
loves. She graduated from Middlesex University and currently is studying an MA
in Fashion and the Environment at the London School of Fashion in London.
Interview:
What drives your designs and what
inspires you?
NI: I love
clothes that look and feel good at the same time, I have this urge to create
clothing that speaks to you, and I specialize in prints that express what is
happening in the Environment. I have a
huge passion for the cause in Palestine, I would love to and am planning on
visiting that part of the world and take first hand images that I will then
portray in my garments.
The reason
behind this is compromised of three things, Fashion, Sustainability & Gaza,
I have a love and personal connection with all and I would like to marry the
three together and bring to the attention of the world by staging through what
I know and do best, that is Fashion Design.
What is the woman you design for?
NI: I
would like to think that I designed for the woman who takes care of her
appearance, is glamorous and wishes to make a statement and stand apart from
the crowd, I would not like to put a cap on the age of a women that I would
target my clothing at, I think eighteen plus would be the best description.
How often you launch a collection?
How often you launch a collection?
NI: As I have
only recently graduated, I have only launched my first collection but am amidst
starting up my online business that will have a menswear range as well as
women’s wear.
Do you consider sustainability as a driver within your design process? How?
Do you consider sustainability as a driver within your design process? How?
NI: Yes as you
may have gathered the MA course I am studying currently focuses on such issues
therefore, I feel I am exactly where I want to be right now and am planning to
have a sustainable element in my clothing collections.
What is you vision of future design?
What is you vision of future design?
NI: I believe
Sustainability is the future where Fashion is concerned, if we go on depleting
the world resources and polluting the environment to fulfill the needs of fast
fashion, there will come a point such that the resources will no longer be
available to appease the appetite of fast fashion, therefore we need to think
of solutions now before we a faced head on with a dire situation.

'MOK A coffee art' by designer LAURA DAZA
Designer and photographer: Laura Daza |
'MOK A coffee art' is a collection of limited edition illustrations created by designer and artist Laura Daza www.lauradaza.com, inspired in one of her greatest passions, the enjoyment of drinking a cup of the best hand roasted coffee. Is the romanticism, the aroma and the secret behind this art making, what makes it appealing to many coffee lovers, especially to this designer/artist.
Designer and photographer: Laura Daza |
The drinking of coffee is about indulging in the simple pleasures of life and the sharing of moments together; the foam technique and the interesting designs made by pouring the foamed milk into the espresso such as lovely hearts, leaves and abstract shapes; is what makes this a unique experience.
|
|
MOK A, name that comes from Moka pot or espresso machinetta or machine; is a coffee maker invented by Italians. It is a nostalgic design that brings affection and is essential in almost every cucina italiana 'Italian kitchen'. The designer got inspiration for this project while traveling to Italy
and understanding the art of drinking a cappuccino, espresso or any
other coffee derivative.
With this project the aim is to reinterpret and propose a new imagery of the traditional Moka aluminum pot. The use of vibrant colours, geometric shapes, polka dots and contrasting elements makes it a hip and pop design, exploring the boundaries of design and different ways of expressing and experimenting with life emotions. All the illustrations were hand-drawn using funky coloured markers and inks to give the sketchy appereance.
'My studio place is located in Bethnal Green, in the East part of London. It can be said that is my home and tabernacle where I enjoy working, letting my ideas flow and especially make the best coffee in the Moka pot' - Laura Daza
