W O R K I N P R O G R E S S / Material Futures Course

The course MA Textile Futures showcased posgraduate projects at the Work In Progress show in Central Saint Martins.

Designer Laura Daza www.lauradaza.com had the chance to show her project COLOUR PROVENANCE, the reviving and preserving of ancient colours. Colours that were used in the past and today have been replaced by new synthetic ones. Starting with the premise that people know little about colour; about its history, how it was sourced, crafted and utilized in the past, she aims to rescue traditional methods of producing pigments in an authentic and pure way.

The Colour Maker

Laura is a passionate Colombian designer, artist, maker and colour hunter. Founder of her design studio and fashion label in 2004. As an alchemist she transforms raw materials into colours, like magic. She studied MA Material Futures (previously called Textile Futures) at the renown Central Saint Martins College of Design in London; taught for more than 3 years as an adjunct professor of Design. Worked in NYC with fashion designers, Narciso Rodriguez and Donna Karan; and British based label PREEN. She had the chance to participate in the 'Purpureau Vestes Symposium' in Barcelona, Spain, with her 'Colour Provenance' project and work on commissions for Roche Bobois and Nissan Design Europe.
